Latest Podcast Explores Differences Between In-Network and Out-of-Network Benefits
You’ve probably heard the advice: “Always look for an in-network provider.” But do you really know why? In the latest episode of “Under the Coverage,” Nova Healthcare Administrators, Inc., explains how provider networks work, why staying in-network can save you money and how to identify what your costs might be if you choose to see an out-of-network provider.
In “In-Network vs. Out-of-Network Explained,” hosts Sara Fluskey, Nova chief marketing & communications officer, and Jolene Myers, manager, marketing, cover the essentials of medical networks: how to check whether your provider participates in your health plan’s network and whether your plan includes out-of-network benefits.
“So, when you talk about what is in-network versus out-of-network, we have to start with what a network is,” said Fluskey. “A network is an agreement with providers and facilities that outlines the allowed amounts they can bill.”
The episode also explores how seeing an in- or out-of-network doctor affects your deductible and out-of-pocket maximum, helping listeners better understand their benefits and the real math behind their medical bills.
